Cary, N.C. - Tournament officials for the SAS Championship presented by BusinessWeek have announced the field for the ninth annual Champions Tour event. Champions Tour professionals had until Friday, September 18 at 5:00 p.m. to commit. The Tournament begins next week with pro-ams taking place Monday through Thursday and championship play running Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27 at Prestonwood Country Club.

“This is without a doubt the most competitive and star-studded field we’ve had in our nine years,” said Tournament Director Jeff Kleiber. “In addition, with our added fan enhancements like the 18th green patio and AT&T Family Day, this is an outstanding event that the entire family can enjoy.”

The field is highlighted by nine of the current top-10 on the 2009 Official Money List and all but two 2009 tournament champions. Current Charles Schwab Cup leader Fred Funk leads the cast of likely contenders and will be joined by his closest competitor in the standings, Loren Roberts. Nine of the top-10 players in the Charles Schwab Cup standings will participate.

Also coming to Cary will be eight World Golf Hall of Fame members, headlined by Lee Trevino, Ben Crenshaw, Curtis Strange and Nick Price. In addition, seven Champions Tour rookies will compete, including Tom Lehman, Hal Sutton and Bob Tway.

Fans will be able to relive old memories as all past SAS Championship winners will be in attendance, including defending champion Eduardo Romero.

Leonard Thompson, who received a sponsor’s exemption in the field, will be competing in his 1,000th career professional tournament.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.saschampionship.com (no fees attached!) or by calling (919) 531-GOLF (4653).  Limited quantities of the SAS Championship Ultimate Golf Package, including two weekly tickets and 18 discounted golf vouchers, are available for $99.  Eagles’ Nest 17th Green Skybox tickets are available for $79 per ticket.  Eagles’ Nest tickets include admission to the 17th green skybox, buffet and open bar.
