Bernhard Langer

World Golf Hall of Famer Bernhard Langer won his fifth Champions Tour event Sunday at the Boeing Classic in Snoqualmie, Wash. Langer shot a final-round 69 to finish the tournament at 18-under 198, three shots better than Nick Price.

Langer started the final round with a one-stroke advantage over Price and pushed his lead to four strokes at the turn after Price made three consecutive birdies on the front nine. Price gained some ground at No. 11 when he made birdie and Langer bogeyed the hole. Langer, however, recovered and pushed the margin back to four strokes with birdies on Nos. 15 and 16. Langer ultimately won the tournament by three strokes after Price made birdie at Nos. 17 and 18. Langer’s three-stroke victory matched the largest winning margin in tournament history, tying David Eger’s winning 2005 total as well as Loren Roberts’ 54-hole scoring mark set in 2009.

Langer earned 285 Charles Schwab Cup points with the win and increased his 2010 total to 2,791. He now has a 661-point advantage over Fred Couples in the season-long race. Tom Lehman remains in third place with 1,420 points followed by Nick Price (1,246) and Fred Funk (1,241).
