YMCA OF THE TRIANGLE
The host charity of the SAS Championship is the YMCA of the Triangle, and in the 20 years of the event over $5 million has been donated to area youth educational initiatives. Since the SAS Championship began supporting the YMCA of the Triangle’s academic programs, over 9,600 students have taken part in the program. The tournament annually contributes the single largest donation to the Y Learning Program.
CAREER DAY AT THE CHAMPIONSHIP
Students from the Y Learning Program also visited the SAS Championship. These students were able to get an up close look at what it takes to produce a professional golf tournament. PGA Tour Champions professionals Darren Clarke and Mike Goodes also provided golf instruction while interacting with the students on Thursday, October 10, 2019.
DRIVE TO READ
PGA Tour Champions professionals Ken Duke and Esteban Toledo, in addition to YMCA and Tournament staff, visited the Y Learning site at Carpenter Elementary. The players read books with the students, and also posed for photos and signed autographs on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.
