VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES
Volunteers are encouraged to work at least three shifts in one of the following committees during Tournament Week. Committee and shift selections can be made on the Volunteer registration form at the time of registration. Volunteer shifts vary by committee, but typically last four to six hours.

Committee Head – Denny Monroe
Volunteers will record the driving distance of the PGA Tour champions legends using range finders on two of the tournament holes.

Volunteers will help to maintain the SAS Championship Media Center. Duties include distributing credentials to working media, printing information for fans and media as well as answering questions for those working in the media center.

Committee Head – Shelley Mitchell
Volunteers will provide assistance to tournament staff with the Honorary Observer program, including checking in participants and ensuring they reach the correct area in preparation for their round.

Committee Head – Bruce Friedman
Volunteers will be responsible for updating the manual scoreboard found on the 18th Hole throughout tournament play.

Committee Heads – Julie Southwick, Peter Zelechoski & Lee Bulluck
Volunteers will be assigned to a particular group to follow throughout the day. Volunteers will be given a wireless handheld palm and headset and will be charged with marking each stroke and specific statistics at the end of each hole. Walking scorers are responsible for communicating scores to the central scoring network and should be able to walk all 18 holes. A mandatory training session is required for this position and due to popular demand, admittance to these positions goes by the date and time of sign-up as well as the number of shifts available to work.

Committee Heads – Ron Hanson, Cindy Hanson & Molly Taylor
Volunteers will be assigned to a particular group to follow throughout the day. Volunteers will be given a standard with the names of their group of PGA Tour Professionals to carry throughout the round of play.

Committee Heads – James Mendez & Patrick McCabe
Volunteers will assist the professional caddies throughout the tournament. Volunteers will distribute and collect caddie bibs, towels and lunch vouchers each day. They will also manage the caddie tent and handle caddie registration.

Committee Heads – Larry Mortier, Doug Cregan & Debbie Perry
Volunteers will be stationed at locations throughout the course, with a focus on the tees, landing areas, greens and spectator crosswalks. Marshals will help ensure fair play among all participants as well as safety for all of the spectators.

Committee Heads – Don Aldridge & Frank Pote
Volunteers will be assigned a shuttle route, helping to transport Champions Tour Professionals, volunteers and approved witnesses along that route. Shuttle drivers will need to pass a drivers check from a third-party source in order to work in this position.

Committee Heads – Glenn Horton & Susan Horton
Volunteers will be located on the driving range throughout the week. Volunteers will help to maintain a suitable and secure area for all contestants by organizing range balls, beverages, ID signs as well as verifying appropriate credentials.

Volunteers will be assigned to tournament headquarters, assisting tournament staff. Volunteers will answer the tournament phone line, coordinate mailings and fulfill general office and project needs prior to and throughout tournament week.

Committee Head – John Harney
Volunteers will be assigned to assist the Golf Channel production staff. Volunteers will assist with any needs for the television broadcast throughout the weekend and will need to take driver checks in order to work in this position.

Committee Head – Demond Peterson
Volunteers will be located in volunteer headquarters. Volunteers will assist with the set-up and clean-up of volunteer meals served in the volunteer headquarters during tournament week.

Committee Heads – Keith Brickman & Sandy Moonert
Volunteers will distribute uniforms to volunteers. This position will start during volunteer orientation, which occurs in the week before the SAS Championship and continues during tournament week.

Committee Heads – Jeff Phillips & Bill Atti
Volunteers will be responsible for distributing products such as water, soda and snacks throughout the course. Volunteers will also potentially add sanitation responsibilities. This role is physically demanding.

Committee Heads – Mary Beth Steinbach & Randy Steinbach
Volunteers will be stationed at the main entrance, helping fans safely and quickly enter the tournament grounds. Volunteers will scan fans’ tickets as well as direct hospitality ticket holders to the proper locations.

Committee Head – Lisa Vulinec
Volunteers will be stationed at hospitality areas throughout the course. Volunteers will check tickets and credentials of those entering the assigned hospitality tents as well as helping to provide information for patrons inside the tents.

Committee Heads – Mari Jo Hill & Ben Wilson
Volunteers will serve as a liaison for the PGA Tour Champions professionals throughout the week. Duties will include registering the players, handling entry fees and providing the professionals with local information and guidance. In order to be considered for this role, potential volunteers must apply.

Committee Heads – Shelley Mitchell & Katy Salamati
Volunteers will help assist tournament staff with the operations of the SAS Championship Pro-Am. Duties will include assisting amateur player registration, gift bag assembly and distributions around shotgun starts and at the welcome reception.

Committee Heads – Sandy Harwood & Eric Pearson
Volunteers will help transport the professional players, their spouses, tournament staff and VIPs to various locations, both inside and outside of Prestonwood Country Club. Nontraditional hours are sometimes needed int his role and courtesy vehicles are provided. Volunteers will need to pass a drivers check from a third-party source in order to work this position.

Committee Heads – Ken Olson & Andrew Phillips
Volunteers will be focused on pre- and post-event construction support, with some shifts also available during tournament week. Volunteers in this role must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and up to 75 lbs. Volunteers will need to pass a drivers check from a third-party source in order to work in this position.
